Personal Loan
The year was 1975.. the place Milwaukee, and the man...well you know who the man was.
Bob Cobblestone didn't quite know it yet, but he was about to perform one of the most remarkable personal loan negotiations of all time. He happened to be on vacation in the city of Milwaukee, Wisconsin when he decided that he was quite in the mood for a personal loan. Fortunately, he had already made sure that his hotel was just seconds away from a nearby lender, so getting there was no problem at all.
The showdown.
Bob could tell something was off right away. It just didn't seem like the lender wanted him in there. He was making strange facial gestures, acting very panicky, and not being friendly at all. Now was that the way to deliver quality personal loan services? No, sir it was not. Bob soon found out, however, that this was actually a result of a robbery that had taken place at this location just days earlier. Not only was the lender quite shaken up, he actually didn't want to lend anything to anybody.
This, of course, was not acceptable to Bob Cobblestone, the greatest loan negotiator of all time. Bob wanted a personal loan and he was going to get one!
"Sorry," said the lender. " I ain't got no money. I ain't got no money and I wouldn't lend you any if I did have it. Now scoot, before I call the policia."
"Sir," exclaimed Bob. "I understand that you don't want to give me money. But I would really like a personal loan, ok?"
And that was that!
Yes, with those utterly remarkable negotiation skills, Bob managed to convince a lender hellbent on not lending anything to actually give him a loan of $800, with only 2 dollars charged as a service. And he had 3 years to pay it back! Who else but Bob Cobblestone could possibly manage to arrange such a deal, in such little time, with such little effort? (Hint: No one.)
